SOME CAUSES OF DERMATOLOGY ISSUES IN PETS

Skin problems can be caused by a variety of environmental factors – a proper diagnosis is essential in identifying the problem and prescribing the proper treatment. Diagnostic steps commonly include microscopic examinations of material from the skin and ears, fungal and/or bacterial cultures, skin biopsies, and other allergy tests.

Potential causes of skin issues include:

• Endocrine Disorders (these normally involve the over or underproduction of hormones)
• Environmental Allergies (pollen, dust, mold, and plants)
• Food Allergies 
• Infections 
• Parasites (fleas, ticks, lice, mites)

SOME TREATMENTS AND PREVENTION

We will examine your pet’s symptoms and diagnostic results (if needed) and formulate a treatment plan to remedy your pet’s dermatology problem. Once the symptoms are clear, we may prescribe preventive measures to keep the symptoms from coming back.
